Altri luoghi dove è molto affascinante abbandonarsi all'esplorazione in totale libertà, sono i luoghi abbandonati. Qui aleggia un'atmosfera molto particolare, spesso la Natura selvaggia si riappropria degli spazi che l'uomo civilizzato ha tentato di rubare, e mischiandosi ai manufatti umani si creano ambienti surreali ricchi di suggestione dal sapore nostalgico e romantico, spesso gotico e melanconico.

Si respira il profumo umido e polveroso di un'era post-civilizzazione, si cammina in bilico tra passato e futuro, in un tempo sospeso, dove viene naturale porsi mille domande e mille interrogativi, e dove sul nostro profondo agiscono contemporaneamente molte energie potenti e profonde, come il senso del mistero, dell'avventura e dell'esplorazione, anche e soprattutto interiore, le sottili sensazioni e percezioni fisiche, i profumi, i rumori, le zone buie, zone ambivalenti che risvegliano mute paure ma offrono un rifugio confortevole ad emozioni intime e segrete.

Anche l'essere luoghi isolati e solitari, rende questi edifici simili ad isole distanti dal comune modo di sentire, zone franche dove il pensiero si sente autorizzato a disertare dalle normali logiche, e tutti questi elementi, uniti al fascino romantico ed un po' gotico delle rovine, rendono molto stimolanti queste esperienze.

Even the fact that these buildings are isolated and solitary places makes them resemble islands far from the common way of feeling, free zones where thought feels authorized to desert normal logic, and all these elements, combined with the romantic and slightly Gothic charm of the ruins, make these experiences very stimulating.
